Serial/COM connection
Cable
In order to obtain the log from serial connection you need to pull a physical connection line between serial log producer (hereafter PBX) and your PC. You should use a PC, which is located not far from PBX so as to avoid the need for a long cable. The length of an ordinary cable can be from 1.8 to 10-15 meters. Two or more shorter cables can also be combined in order to form the required length. You can purchase the cable from PBX dealer or buy one in a computer accessories store too.
For selection of an appropriate cable you need to visually determine the types of PBX's outlet and a free serial port type of the chosen PC's. Both of these outlets can be of 9-pins or 25-pins types (male or female type) and can look like:

You need to purchase a cable of a null-modem type for connection of PC and PBX. Meaning that the pinout shall look as follows:

Although the connection procedure is foolproof, it is recommended to apply for information to the PBX user's manual or to consult a PBX dealer.
Be sure that your PC is switched off during cable connection procedure.
